Dock vs headphone out page in addition to the iPod mini now has 5g comparisons. Just scroll down to see it. Does your 5g iPod behave like I described? Let me know in the comments section what do you think about this change, and if you are using the click wheel while iPod is in the dock.
I have done a test of the latest 5G iPod today, so its now added to the list. The results are really good, even though on one of the channels the headphone amp is quieter. Its not the case when I have tried playback using universal dock.
I have added test of iPod mini and a comparison of headphone versus dock output.
I have finally redesigned this site. Now its running excellent blogging software from WordPress. The old links which pointed to the articles are unfortunately not working, but you can access them on the right.
Audio tests of video and mini ipods are coming soon.
I have added some more tests of my 4G iPod. One of them is a firmware comparison and another is a test with headphones connected to the output.

Thanks to Gerald who suggested that I experiment with different firmware.
Please understand that I am not in any way trying to promote Apple or any one else. Test results published here do not necessary relate to perceived audio quality so please don’t make your buying decisions using just them. I am doing this research out of my own curiosity
and hope that it will be useful to somebody else.
Today I have added tests for both, Nano and Shuffle iPods. Unfortunately I am unable to post 5G results just yet because the tests was done with low quality cable so they can be unreliable. I can only go as far as saying that frequency response of the 5G iPod is flatter compared to 4G. I will work on some more testing to make sure that the results published here are fair.
I would like to thank everyone at KRCS Apple Center in Leeds for their help.
I have just uploaded a test of Creative Zen Extra. This model is a couple years old.
The purpose of this website is to provide reviews and comparisons of Apple’s popular mp3 players concentrating strictly on audio quality.
Because audio quality is a very subjective area I will be using RightMark Audio Analyzer, which has earned itself great reputation around the world for being a very precise and reliable benchmarking tool.
So far there aren’t many reviews available for you to read, but I hope that I soon will be able to test Apple’s latest lineup of audio players. I also hope that you’ll find information here interesting and please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.
