Welcome to the site

October 10th, 2005 by George Tyshchenko

The purpose of this website is to provide reviews and comparisons of Apple’s popular mp3 players concentrating strictly on audio quality.

Because audio quality is a very subjective area I will be using RightMark Audio Analyzer, which has earned itself great reputation around the world for being a very precise and reliable benchmarking tool.

So far there aren’t many reviews available for you to read, but I hope that I soon will be able to test Apple’s latest lineup of audio players. I also hope that you’ll find information here interesting and please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.

This is great! Now I can finaly just look at plain old numbers instead of “old wives tales”! I hope to see a review of the 5th Gen iPod soon. Great Job!

Cool. Now I’d love to see some subjective listening tests from people who review top-end audio gear to place these devices in context. Like, should I bother buying a dedicated CD player, or just use an iPod & Dock, running Lossless?

    Sorry i know i’ve arrived a bit late ;)
    Firstly excellent site.
To Peter Barrett: Stereophile the US Hi-Fi mag did just this and opinioned that the iPod was as pretty good used as a source.

Please, please, please do LOADED tests which represent what we actually hear through the headphones.

Tests with load impedance representative of headphones give a much more reliable guide to the real world sound quality.

Otherwise, keep up the good work!!!

Yes, i deffinately would like to do some more, thanks for suggesting.

But i can only do this tests on some ipods, because i dont have every single model right now. I only have nano, mini and 4gen at the moment.

And remember that not all people listen using h/phones. If you plug ipod into the stereo then the “load” will be different, (more like unloaded tests)

Thanks for your suggestion, keep them coming !
And keep an eye on the RSS, i will eventually make those tests, when I get a chance.
    Thank you, George
